These are the ten commandments of a strong and lasting union, a guide to keep love and harmony in your home.

Thou shall not have another partner apart from your spouse: In marriage, faithfulness is the foundation. Let your heart belong only to your spouse, just as the coconut tree belongs to the earth beneath it.
Thou shall not speak evil about your partner to your family: Keep your partner’s name safe in your home. Just as we don’t air our laundry for all to see, do not share your grievances with others. Resolve them together, in private.
Thou shall remember the labor of your wife, when you were poor. So when you're rich, honor her: Never forget how she stood by you when times were tough. And wives, remember how your husband strives daily to provide for the family. Encourage him, and value his efforts, for it is through this mutual respect that your home will flourish.
Thou shall not compare your partner to anyone: Every marriage is unique, like the feni from different parts of Goa. Don’t compare your spouse to others, for doing so brings only bitterness. Appreciate them for who they are.
Thou shall not deny thyself quality intimacy, even in times of misunderstanding: Even when there are storms, do not let them keep you apart. Physical closeness is a balm for the heart, a way to heal and reconnect.
Thou shall respect one another, and let humility reign in your house: Treat each other with kindness and humility. Let your home be a place where respect is as constant as the tide.
Thou shall not insult your partner in public: Protect your partner’s dignity as you would your own. Correct each other in love and in private. And never, ever let anger lead to violence or harsh words. Your home should be a haven of peace.
Thou shall forgive your partner 24x7 in one day: Forgiveness is the oil that keeps the gears of marriage turning smoothly. Let go of grudges, and forgive freely, as often as needed.
Thou shall make your partner happy at all times: Always strive to bring joy to your spouse. Ask them, “Are you okay?” and truly listen. Your care and attention are the greatest gifts you can give.
Thou shall not say to your partner, ‘Leave my life,’ or ‘It is over between us’: When troubles come, remember that no marriage is perfect. Don’t speak words that cannot be taken back. Instead, work through your issues with patience and understanding, for marriage is a journey, not a destination.
And finally, I pray for those facing challenges in their marriage. May God, in His infinite wisdom, bring peace and happiness back into your home. Your union is a sacred bond, and with faith and love, it will not falter. God bless your marriage.
